Morrie Erickson

Morrie started our company in 1980 and has been President ever since.  As an attorney licensed in Indiana, he drafts our legal documents and oversees our overall operations.  Also, he is licensed as an Indiana Title Insurance Producer, Indiana real estate broker, and as a Certified Instructor for real estate training in Indiana and Kentucky.  Morrie has two IU degrees, including a J.D. from the IU-Bloomington School of Law.  He is a member of the Indiana and American Bar Associations, Federation of Exchange Accommodators, Indiana and American Land Title Associations, and Indiana and National Association of Realtors®.  Morrie is past President of the Monroe County Board of Zoning Appeals and both past and present member of ILTA’s Board of Governors.  Experienced in tax-deferred exchanges, he has qualified as a Certified Exchange Specialist® and frequently acts as a qualified intermediary and exchange accommodation titleholder in forward and reverse 1031 exchanges via our sister company, 1031 Exchange Co., Inc.  Morrie is a frequent presenter at professional seminars on subjects ranging from 1031 exchanges to title insurance and is the author of Buying & Selling a House in Indiana – A Lawyer’s Practical Tips which is available via Amazon.com.

Lisa Hoover

image 2

Lisa was our first employee, has been with us since 1985, and is corporate Vice President. She focuses on examination of title searches and documents and prepares title insurance commitments for both commercial and residential transactions. Lisa also gives quotes and pricing for stand-alone searches, title premiums, and title services fees. She works in our Auto Mall Road office, is a licensed title insurance producer, and is a former member of the Indiana Land Title Association Board of Governors, remaining active on various ILTA committees. If she’s not pouring over documents or plotting legal descriptions, she’ll be fielding questions or generating commitments.

Shelley Puckett

image 3

Shelley has been with the company since 1992, is corporate Secretary, and is a life-long Monroe County resident. Over the years she has worked both as a closer (commercial and residential) and as an examiner, meaning she analyzes title searches and evaluates documents prior to preparing title insurance commitments. Previously a paralegal, Shelley is a licensed Indiana title insurance producer and is active on various committees of the Bloomington Board of REALTORS®. She is the manager of our Downtown office and, among other duties, provides quotes for searches, title premiums, and title services fees.

Mandi Eaton

image 3

Mandi joined the company in 1995, serving in a variety of positions before becoming a closer before the end of 1999. She heads up our Auto Mall Road closing department and, of course, is licensed as an Indiana title insurance producer. Mandi’s experience ranges from residential to commercial. On the residential side, she has focused on and made presentations about the major overhaul to RESPA which took effect on January 1, 2010. Most of Mandi’s closings are in-office, table-signings – along with the occasional e-signing – but she also coordinates long-distance settlements when one or both parties don’t attend.

Nina Walls

image 3

Nina has been a part of the company since 2001, leaving the paralegal world for real estate. She is a Jill-of-all-trades, her efforts running the gamut from title examinations to closings, mostly with a residential focus. Now working at our Auto Mall Road location, Nina is licensed by the State of Indiana as a title insurance producer and, as such, can quote title insurance premiums and related fees, including title services. A Monroe County native, Nina has served two terms as Township Assessor/Trustee for Washington Township, from which she happily retired at the end of 2006. But at TitlePlus!, Nina works on.

Heather Teske

image 3

Heather is another Monroe County native and is our company bookkeeper at Auto Mall Road. In addition to balancing the books of both TitlePlus! and 1031 Exchange Co., Inc., she also reconciles firm trust accounts, the settlement escrow account, and the 1031 exchange custodial trust account. Because most title agency audits start with funding and agency accounting matters, she is the focal point for title underwriters’ auditors, who track incoming and outgoing funds, monitor bank account reconciliations, and verify premium remittances. If an eye for detail is critical in the world of accounting (and it is), then Heather ranks right at the top.

Jenny Hudson

image 3

Jenny was hired as receptionist in 2003, just in time for the tidal wave of purchases and refinances. Not long after excelling at the front desk at Auto Mall Road, she became a closer, a position she’s held ever since. Hailing from Monroe County, her extended family has been involved in real estate for decades. Although most of Jenny’s efforts are in the residential sector, she is equally adroit in the commercial arena. For the past several years, Jenny has been the chief closer at our Downtown location, handling everything – as do all our closers – from high-end cash deals to first and second mortgages to short sales and everything in between.

Amber Hollars

image 3

Amber grew up in Monroe County and is firmly entrenched as receptionist at Auto Mall Road, but to think that’s her only role misses the point entirely. In addition to greeting clients and fielding in-coming calls, she handles the mail, opens new files, posts SureClose® (our online, transaction management software), orders supplies, coordinates property profiles, schedules closings, prioritizes title searches, and issues title insurance policies (she’s a licensed title insurance producer, of course). Put another way, Amber is the point person for our company and juggles more balls – and different types of balls – than anyone else.

Susan Craig

Susan has been with us since early 2010, coming to us as a licensed Indiana title insurance producer with several years' work as a closer to her credit. She's closing for us as well, working out of our Downtown location. But title credentials aren't all Susan brings to the table. Thanks to her prior position as a mortgage loan officer, Susan knows the ins and outs from the financing side of real estate transactions as well. In short, she knows the lending ropes and what goes on behind the scene, all of which helps her navigate both simple and complicated closings. Susan is from Lawrence County and drives north to Monroe every day.

Amy Utley

image 3

Amy joined us as a title searcher in late 2009 after working in for several years in a similar capacity for two other local title companies. Residing in Owen County, she takes care of our title searches there, as well as our searches in Monroe. Amy’s duties require familiarity with systems and procedures of various county offices, including the Assessor, Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder, and Clerk. Searching – whether by computer or flipping pages by hand – is a short step away from examining, meaning Amy has learned to digest the meat of the documents she encounters, so she can follow the trail where the documents lead.

Bonnie Frank

image 4

Bonnie is long on title searching experience but relatively new to our company, having joined us in early 2010. She has plied her title craft in areas other than searching public records, but now focuses on the search end of things. As with all skilled searchers – sometimes called abstractors – Bonnie knows her way around the courthouse and, in Monroe County’s case, the Justice Building. Residing in Owen County, she works alongside Amy in handling our title searches there. Bonnie knows title searching means following trails in directions documents point you to and occasionally reading between the lines. But that’s the value of experience.

Chuck Fitzgerald

image 3

Originally from the Cleveland, OH, area, Chuck is an IU grad having majored in Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation at the Kelley School of Business.  He plans to point toward a Master of Science & Information Systems, also at Kelley.  Chuck has consistently worked on the side, principally in retail sales and administration, as he has furthered his education.  He brings to us a background in information technology and technology systems, with special focus on social media.  Chuck handles our IT, website, and social media programs.

Sam VanDeventer

image 3

Samaritan is a closing assistant and handles our post-closing coordination and archiving. A Monroe County native, she was graduated from Bloomington High School South in 2004 and from Ivy Tech in 2010. Sam – that's what we call her – started working with us in 2004, and got her start in post-closing and archiving in 2007. Prior to that, Sam was our courier and courthouse documents filer. If you can't find a document from your closing or title insurance transaction, feel free to give Sam a call.
